"Late at Night"

It is late at night
The moon is oh so bright.
The stars are shining
Such pleasant dining.
He looks her in the eyes
And says his goodbyes.
This was unexpected
She felt neglected.
Words go unspoken
As her heart becomes broken.
She holds back her tears
As she reminisces through the years.
He was her love
She hears a mourning dove.
The night came to an end
As she lost her best friend.

  1. There is an innocence about your poetry that is reflected therough your rhyme scheme. Combined with the theme of loss, I'm get the sense that this poem is about the loss of a first love, through a break-up or perhaps even death. There is also a passivity in the poem that reflects the girl's inability to do anything about the loss of her love.
